Orange Blossom Festival, Parade and Rodeo
The Orange Blossom Festival, Parade and Rodeo is held every year in the town of Davie, just a few miles west of Fort Lauderdale. For two whole days, people can experience the surprisingly western and cowboy side of the area.
The festival itself is held by the town hall with some roads blocked off so that pedestrians can roam free with no worries about car traffic. Lots of western-themed and Native American exhibits can be found as well as arts and crafts, western carriage displays, animals, country music and of course, food!
Kids won’t get bored with activities set out just for them plus a bounce house to keep them preoccupied. A country western concert on each of the festival days sets the tone for the event.
But perhaps the most intriguing part of the festival is the rodeo held at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds on both days. The Saturday rodeo begins at 8:00 PM and the Sunday one at 2:00 PM (please double check prices and times at the town of Davie’s website).
Advance tickets can be purchased at the Davie Town Hall or at Grif’s Western store that could save you a few dollars per ticket. You can also purchase tickets directly at the rodeo grounds.
The Bergeron Rodeo Grounds is something you’d completely expect in a place like Texas, however it’s right here in South Florida. Located just right outside the city of Fort Lauderdale, it’s home of the Davie Pro Rodeo, a professional rodeo association that has been around since 1987.
