Las Olas Art Fair
Come see one of the most anticipated art shows in South Florida
The Las Olas Art Fair has become, for the past two decades, one of the most popular events on trendy Las Olas Boulevard and one of the most awaited art fairs in the United States.
In fact, it’s popularity has grown so much that it’s held three times a year, normally in January, March and October. This means, you have more chances to attend and see (and buy) the work of over a hundred artists!
I love this event because it’s a great way to get everyone exposed to the world of art. At this art fair, not only are artworks on display, you will also have a chance to meet and talk with the artists about their work.
You can say that perhaps the weather, yet again, might have something to do with it. Historically, South Florida has been lucky to have a warm and dry climate during the winter months when a large portion of Northern America is very cold and people are wrapped up in several layers of cotton, wool and microfiber.
There is something just irresistible about walking on a quaint and lovely boulevard lined with one-of-a-kind shops in the background and artists’ booths set up right on the street. These open booths are what draw the crowd the most. Cars are blocked from passing through just for this occasion and people can walk freely up and down Las Olas.
We usually just “window shop” the artwork that are shown along SE 6th Avenue and SE 11th Avenue. Some pieces can cost thousands of dollars, but there are some artworks that are affordable and beautiful, too! Unique pieces of jewelry can be found during the Las Olas Art Fair and fair goers will be able to buy it for themselves or the ones they love directly from the artists. Prices, of course, can vary widely depending on the materials used.
This can be a lively and fun event for families to enjoy. Live music is often played and there are food booths, too. There are also
sit-down restaurants
on Las Olas Boulevard that you can go to as well as other
unique shops
if you wish.
